
James Harold Parker, 78, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at his home after a brief battle with lymphoma. He was born on September 5, 1946, in Lenora, Norton County, Kansas, at his grandmother’s home. He was the son of Harold D. and Fern G. (Long) Parker.
James attended Bogue and Logan Schools, graduating in 1964. He later attended Central and Bethel College.
He was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Church.
James was united in marriage to LaVera L. Voth on August 23, 1968 at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel.
James served in 1-W service in Houston, Texas at the Methodist Hospital. He later worked maintenance at Memorial Hospital in McPherson, KS, and Prairie View in Newton, Kansas.
James is survived by his wife of 56 years, LaVera Parker of Buhler; daughters, Linda (Phil) Gaertner of Newton, and Tammy (Andrew) Plank of Halstead; four grandchildren, Evelyn and Hannah Gaertner, and Jeriah and Helen Plank; sister, JoAnn (Duane) Patterson of Hill City; and brother-in-law, Ron Holt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Joyce Holt. Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Buhler Mennonite Church.

Burial will take place at Buhler East Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, at the Buhler Mennonite Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
