Eileen Ruth Yamauchi, 69, passed unexpectedly October 26, 2022, at her home. She was born February 25, 1953, in St. John, to Burton Wilbur and Virginia Ann (Taylor) Snyder.
Eileen graduated from St. John High School in 1971. She received her bachelor’s degree from McPherson College in biology, with a minor in chemistry. Eileen worked for over 15 years in research and development for Doskocil’s. She later retired after eight years of service at the Hutchinson Community Foundation, where she was responsible for donor services. Eileen enjoyed reading, playing the piano, singing, gardening, crafts, and decorating for all the seasons and holidays. She was a servant leader, serving on numerous community boards and organizations throughout the years and was a member of Soroptimist International. Eileen also appreciated the ministries of her church, Grace Bible Church in Hutchinson, and particularly enjoyed being involved with the toddler ministry. Above all, Eileen loved being a doting grandma and great-grandma; she would do anything for her family. Eileen left an imprint on everyone she met and will be greatly missed.
On August 5, 1978, she married Mark Yamauchi, in St. John. They shared 44 years of marriage.
Eileen is survived by: her husband, Mark Yamauchi; daughters, Sara Yamauchi and Crystal Gonzales (Paul), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Quentin Clapp (Casey), Kaiya Yamauchi-Valles, Gregory Gonzales (Samantha) and family, all of Hutchinson and Samuel Gonzales and family of Kansas City, MO; great-grandson, Hardin Clapp; brother, Lance Snyder (Olivia) of Ouray, CO; nephew, Adam Snyder of Durango, CO; niece, Eloris Snyder of Houston, TX; and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Fuji Yamauchi.
Celebration of Life service for Eileen will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Grace Bible Church, 1221 E. 33rd Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bart Horton officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
