Hutchinson Municipal Band announces 2023 season

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Municipal Band will begin its 2023 season starting next week.

One of the oldest three bands in the state, the Hutchinson Municipal Band has consistently provided free music to the city of Hutchinson and Reno County since 1875. Even during a shortened 2020 season, the band has offered free music to all citizens each summer for 147 years.

The ensemble consists of musicians from Hutchinson, Reno County, plus surrounding communities and counties.

The band will perform each Tuesday from May 30 to July 18. All performances will begin at 8 p.m. at the Hutchinson Zoo.

The Hutchinson Municipal Band is happy to partner with the Hutchinson Zoo in promoting Hutchinson activities for families and citizens of all ages.

The Hutchinson Municipal Band organization includes a Concert Band, Parade Band, Salt City Jazz Orchestra, Big Band Explosion, Dixieland Combo, Jazz Combo, Brass Quintet, and Woodwind Combo. These groups are available to play at events around Hutchinson.

The 2023 schedule:

May 29th – Memorial Day, Fairlawn Cemetery, 11 a.m.

May 30th – 1st Concert, Hutchinson Zoo, 8 p.m.

June 6th – 2nd Concert, Hutchinson Zoo, 8 p.m.

June 13th – 3rd Concert, Hutchinson Zoo, 8 p.m.

June 20st – 4th Concert, Hutchinson Zoo, 8 p.m.

June 27th – 5th Concert, Hutchinson Zoo, 8 p.m.

July 4th – Patriots Parade, downtown Hutchinson

July 11th – 1st Salt City Jazz Concert, Hutchinson Zoo, 8 p.m.

July 18th – 2nd Salt City Jazz Concert, Hutchinson Zoo, 8 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, HMB Band Management will make cancellation announcements on the Band’s Facebook page, and with area news outlets.
