HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Every year, Hutch Rec's Gingerbread House Decorating event comes to life thanks to the incredible dedication of volunteers. This year, 106 volunteers will transform 35o pounds of powdered sugar, 50 pounds of sugar, 48 ounces of powder meringue, 12 cups of water and countless boxes of graham crackers into over 1,000 gingerbread houses.
It's a labor of love that takes 36 hours of teamwork, laughter, and shared joy. HMS 7 mixed seven batches of icing in their colossal vat, which fills up ten five gallon buckets of icing, Carey Park Women's Golf Group, Students from HMS 8, Employees of the Kansas State Fair, Rise up Reno, Gear Up Program, and the volunteers from the Volunteer Center.
Your commitment to the Hutch Rec event is a true example of community spirit.
The free Gingerbread House decorating event is this Saturday at Memorial Hall from 9 a.m. to noon.
