Paul V. Burwell 88, of Hutchinson, KS passed away August 12, 2024, at HRMC. Paul was born on August 6, 1936, to Ira and Cecil Burwell in Halstead, KS.
Paul Began his early career life as a bellhop at the Leon Hotel in Hutchinson. He enlisted in the United States National Guard in 1955. He served 33 years with the Guards, retiring in 1988. He was a sanitation truck driver with the city of Hutchinson and was given the nickname, "Shorty" by his coworkers. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Hutchinson.
On November 22, 1958 Paul married the love of his life Norma J. "Toots" Snell. Together Paul and Norma Built a life on love and faith.They purchased their first home together in 1962, and he's lived in that home ever since. Paul and Norma had one daughter, Debra Lynn Burwell, who was stillborn on October 21, 1959. Paul and Norma shared 53 years of marriage before her passing on November 20, 2011.
Paul is survived by nieces Christina Cobb of Hutchinson, Buffy Countryman of Salina, Sharlan Graber of Topeka, and many other neices, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one cousin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma, daughter Debra, three sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 10:30 am. Interment will take place after the service at Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorials may be made out to First United Methodist Church or Pleasant View Home of Inman, Ks, and can be sent in care, to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
