
COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — No. 17 Hutchinson (14-2, 9-1) used a 26-6 run in the first half to build a 53-30 advantage on Coffeyville (8-8, 4-6) at halftime and never looked back.
Kam Thomas caught fire from three, hitting 4-of-5 in the first half and 5-of-6 for the game.
Thomas led the Dragons with 25 points on 77% shooting from the floor (10-13).
Tino Simon added his fourth double-double of the year with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Cris Carroll (former Blue Dragon) was held to a single point in the first half and started 0-for-8. Carroll came into the game as the league's fourth-leading scorer (18.5 ppg).
Carroll caught stride in the second half and finished with 16 points on 5-of-14 shooting.
The Red Ravens were led by Jahni Summers' 26 points.
Four Red Ravens finished with double-digit scoring: Summers (26), Brian Griffith (19), Carroll (16) and Alvin Cole (10).
J.P. Ricks was the third Blue Dragon with double figures. He scored 14 on 6-of-8 shooting.
Coffeyville cut the Dragon 23-point halftime lead to 12 on 80% shooting to begin the second half, but Hutchinson had an answer at every turn.
The Dragons shot 56.1% for the game, including 50% (11-22) from three.
Hutchinson's bench outscored Coffeyville's 29-3.
