Vernon James Stiverson, 97, long time resident of Maize, passed away April 28, 2022 in Colwich.  He was born in Irving, November 2, 1924, the second son of James R. Stiverson and Julia M. (Frank) Stiverson.  A veteran of WWII, he spent many years as an office supply salesman, retiring from Southwestern Office Supply in 1989.  He subsequently worked for USD 266, spending much of his time meticulously marking football, baseball and softball fields.  He was a man dedicated to his family, church and community.  He loved fishing, taking care of his yard and was a big fan of the Shockers, Chiefs and Royals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard and granddaughter Jennifer D. (Stiverson) Germann.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 76 years Nona M. (Weller) Stiverson, daughter Janis (Stiverson) Clements of Moore, OK, son Richard J. Stiverson (Debbie) of Maize, son Roger E. Stiverson (Cindy) of Wichita, 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center, on May 9th from 5 to 7 P.M.  Services will be held at Maize United Methodist Church, May 10th at 10:30 a.m.
