USD 308 to hold Kindergarten Roundup

Posted Apr 13, 2021 8:22 PM

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson USD 308 announced that kindergartners for the 2021-22 school year and their parents or guardians are invited to attend an in-school districtwide Kindergarten Roundup Tuesday, April 27, from 6-7 p.m. in all the district’s neighborhood elementary schools. This is a come-and-go event designed for students to get pre-enrolled and to meet school staff.

This is for any child who will be 5 on or before Aug. 31, 2021.

New kindergartners whose families would like for them to attend Hutchinson Magnet School at Allen are asked to contact the school for an application. As a districtwide magnet school, HMS at Allen does not have boundaries.

Families are also asked to go on Facebook and “like” their school’s page to get more updates as the time gets closer.

The day of the Roundup, parents are asked to bring:

  1. Birth certificate
  2. Current immunization records
  3. Physical form
  4. Proof of residence

This is the first in-school Kindergarten Roundup for all district schools since 2008 – the year before the Hutchinson High School Class of 2021 entered kindergarten. During the school bond issue renovations after 2008, the Roundup became a pre-enrollment for early childhood programs for all schools at one location for a few years.

After the bond issue work was completed and it returned to the schools, each school set its own pre-enrollment and some schools opted not to participate.
