HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man was stabbed and his son was arrested Friday in Reno County.

According to a release from the Reno County Sheriff's Office, during the early morning hours of June 2, 2023, Reno County Deputies were sent to a welfare check of Jane Stotts at her residence.

This was initiated by her husband Larry Stotts being dropped off at the Love’s store in McPherson with stab wounds. The individual who dropped him off told Love’s employees that Larry needed medical attention and left the area.

Once Deputies arrived at the residence on 95th Ave., contact was made with Jane Stotts and she was fine. While Deputies were on scene, the Hutchinson Police Department had been sent to a suspicious vehicle on West Second Ave. The vehicle was registered to Larry and Jane Stotts and appeared to have blood inside of it.

The vehicle has been seized by the Reno County Sheriff's Office for processing.

Paul Stotts, the son of Larry and Jane Stotts, has been arrested for attempted first degree murder. He was booked into jail on Friday and is currently in the Reno County Correctional Facility.

Larry Stotts was transported to Wesley Medical Center, has been treated for his wounds and is recovering. This investigation is still ongoing.
