RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday on a sex crimes arrest . According to the Sheriff's Office, on Monday, deputies responded to a residence in regards to a runaway from the state of New York.
During the investigation of how the runaway arrived in Reno County, it was discovered the 20 year old suspect, David Gingerich of Ohio, went to the juvenile's residence and took her back to Ohio then to the residence in the 3600 Blk of South Herren Rd.
Once the runaway was removed from the residence, she reported being sexually assaulted by Gingerich. Gingerich has been arrested for Aggravated Sex Trafficking, Rape, and Aggravated Criminal Sodomy. His bond has been set at $350,000.
He made his first appearance Wednesday morning and is awaiting formal charges to be filed by the Reno County District Attorney's Office.
The person involved has not yet been convicted of a crime and are presumed innocent. The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time that the person accused may be found guilty by a court of law.
Charges may be amended at the discretion of the District Attorney and Court.
