TOPEKA, Kan. — Five designs are presented as finalists for the next official State of Kansas standard issue license plate. The proposed designs were chosen in part because they align with Kansas Tourism design standards, with law enforcement needs, and with the following guidelines:
- License plate numbers will be seven (7) digits.
- Any phrase, motto, or slogan must be placed at the bottom of the license plate.
- Any graphic must be placed on either side of the license plate number.
- Graphics must not resemble letters, numbers, or special characters in a way that would interfere with the ability to read the license plate number.
- Background design must not interfere with the ability to read the license plate number.
- The license plate must have a light background behind the license plate number, and the license plate number must be black.
Kansans can vote on their favorite design as many times as they’d like between 9 a.m. CT on Monday, December 11, 2023, and 5 p.m. CT on Friday, December 15, 2023.The winning design concept will be announced on Monday, December 18, and will be used as the official State of Kansas license plate, subject to any required modifications that may be necessary due to the plate production process.
