
Ronald C. ‘Ron’ Gabel, 90, of Hutchinson, died December 4, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born April 7, 1934, in Ness City, KS, to Joe and Florence (Zecha) Gabel.
Ron proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. Afterward, he earned his bachelor’s degree and went on to be the manager for a development team in the aerospace industry where he worked for more than 35 years. Ron was heavily involved with Church of the Holy Cross and was always looking for ways to help people. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ron held the word of God close to his heart. He would always remind his family of his favorite verse. “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, in earth, as it is in Heaven.” Matthew 6:10.
On April 4, 1955, Ron married the love of his life JoAnn Evans. They shared 69 years of marriage before his death.
Ron is survived by: wife, JoAnn Gabel of Hutchinson; son, Richard Gabel of Hutchinson; daughters, Linda Gabel (Gino Romanowski) of California, Cheryl (David) Skinner of Nevada, Diane Grunley of California; sisters, Lenora (Gary) Waller of Iowa, Jo Ann (Ernie) Janzen of Florida; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Tom Gabel; and sister Karen Hummel.
Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2024, both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2361 Independence Road, Hutchinson with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday. Family to receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
