Curtis Ray Owston, 58, died March 5, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 16, 1965, in Hutchinson, to Fred K. “Trey” and Irene Carmel (Caudillo) Owston III.
Curtis’ first job was at Bornholdt Plantland, where he learned his love for landscaping. Most recently, he worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker for an aerospace company. Curtis learned his passion for woodworking from his grandfather, which gave him the ability to build almost anything with his self-taught talent. He also enjoyed spending time with his two sons, Adam and Jericho, and taking them fishing. Curtis was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson.
Curtis is survived by: his mother, Irene Owston; father, Fred K. “Trey” Owston III, both of Hutchinson; sons, Adam Ray Owston and Jericho Owston of Hutchinson; daughter, Codi Lynn; brother, Andanmo “Damon” Owston; half-brother, Joe Owston of Wichita; grandchildren, Kagen, Mallory, Braxton, Jaycee, and River; uncles, Gabe Caudillo, Sebastian Caudillo, both of Hutchinson and Jim Owston of California; girlfriend, Robin Patten-Ford; Adam, Jericho, and Codi’s mom, Jennifer Owston Hickey, all of Hutchinson; Jericho’s Godparents, Pat and John DeBacker of Wichita; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents, Sebastian F. and Sanjuna Caudillo; paternal grandparents, Fred and Dorothy Owston, Jr.; aunts, Mary Mendoza and Judy Ruiz; and uncle, Phil Caudillo.
Parish Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m., both at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
