KANSAS CITY—A driver injured in an accident just after 10:30a.m. Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri has died.
According to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino, a blue Jeep Cherokee was westbound on 43rd and entered the intersection at Paseo from a stop sign. A northbound white Chevrolet Equinox traveling at a high rate of speed struck the Jeep. The Jeep rolled and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of the Jeep was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The front seat passenger of the Jeep was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured in the collision.
Police were notified the driver of the Jeep was pronounced deceased by hospital staff on Thursday morning, according to DiMartino.
The investigation, to include suspected impairment of the Chevrolet driver, is ongoing. This is fatality #6 compared to #5 at this time last year in Kansas City, Missouri. Police did not release the name of the victim.
