City council to have special meeting Friday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will discuss their feelings following the interviews of police chief candidates as part of a special meeting Friday morning.

According to the agenda provided to Hutch Post, there will be at least two executive sessions on Friday. The first is to discuss issues related to 2024 contract negotiations with the City’s bargaining units and the second is  to discuss matters involving the Police Chief interviews that were conducted on Monday and Tuesday this week.

According to comments from Mary Grace Clements at the City Council meeting last week, there were four finalists for the police chief position to be interviewed. Those interviews happened Monday and Tuesday.

Those names have not been released.

The city's police department has around 80 employees, and according to recruiting materials, an adopted budget of more than $12.56 million this fiscal year. 

The Hutchinson City Council special meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Council Chambers Conference Room at City Hall.
