HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Mayor Jon Richardson said Monday that Tuesday's executive session regarding the City Manager search is getting the logistics worked out for the council.

"The process has been narrowed," Richardson said. "It's more in regard to how we want to go about the actual interview process."

Richardson also said there are at least four candidates they want to see in person.

"We have non disclosure agreements," Richardson said. "People are...they don't want their current employer to know that they are looking at possibilities. I will go as far as to say that some of them are within the KWBW listening area, a few of them."

It's also important to note that it isn't always necessary to have been in the public sector to be a fit for the position. Interim City Manager Mary Grace Clements is one example.

"Mary Grace is a rock star," Richardson said. "She's really stepped in and embraced the role. I don't think she would have taken it on if she didn't think she could make a difference. You have the union aspect of it and working with employees. You also have the aspect of, she's really big on processes and controls and reviewing what processes we have in place and how they can be improved."

Richardson does believe it will be the end of the year or the start of next year before they get a permanent hire made and in place in Hutchinson.
