HUTCHINSON, Kan. — There will once again be a National Day of Prayer event in Hutchinson Thursday morning, May 2.

It is again sponsored by Elliott Mortuary and will start at 7 a.m. with some light breakfast at Inspire Church (formerly Hutchinson First Church of the Nazarene) at 43rd and Monroe.

President Harry S Truman proclaimed a National Day of Prayer to be observed on July 4, 1952.

Each year since that date, Americans have observed the day in their own way. The observance was moved to the first Thursday in May by President Ronald Reagan and has been proclaimed each year since.
