Burns Melvin Teague, 86, of Hutchinson, died February 5, 2024, at his home.  He was born April 7, 1937, in Grubbs, AR, to James Henry and Lucy Ethel (Darby) Teague.

Burns worked as a machinist for Hartman Manufacturing Company, Arrow Machine, and Lowen Corporation.  He enjoyed music, and in particular singing and playing his guitar.  Burns could be found most mornings at Applewood Restaurant, South Hutchinson, drinking coffee and solving the world’s problems with his coffee group. Known for his quick wit and numerous sayings, Burns will be remembered for his unconditional love and support to his entire family.  

On May 26, 1961, he married Leona Omega Hamilton, in Medford OK.  They shared 59 years of marriage, before her death on July 17, 2020.

Burns is survived by:  children, Rhonda Sample, Gregory Teague (Janet), all of Hutchinson, Alice Schmidt of Wichita, and Kelly Millett (Chris) of Florida; son-in-law, Tim Davis of Hutchinson; brother, Frank Teague of Eudora; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren (with another one due in August); and one great-great-grandchild, due in March. 

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; daughters, Annette Hubbs and her husband, Lester, and Delilah Davis; son-in-law, Robert Sample; grandson, Kendrick Davis; and siblings, Henry Casper Teague, James Walter Teague, Ida Mary Teague Harrison, and Cora Mae Teague Handy

Funeral service will be 10:00 Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Elliott Chapel, with son-in-law, Pastor Christopher Millett officiating.  Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Elliott Chapel.
