HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With the recent wildfires on everyone's mind, all eyes are again on the area as the dry conditions continue and winds are expected to be up in central Kansas on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service says wind could gust up to 30 miles per hour, elevating the rangeland fire danger index once again. Reno County Emergency Management Director Adam Weishaar says that they will be meeting with the fire department and other agencies to put plans together for dealing with possible fires.
If there is good news it is that cooler, calmer and wetter conditions with on-again off-again chances for rain are in the forecast through the weekend and on into next week.
As of the beginning of March, the area has had just 37/100ths of an inch of moisture.
