Chester Lamont “Mont” McGillivray, 89, died March 14, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  He was born May 12, 1934, in Ulysses, Kansas, to Gerald Guy and Esther Alma (Withrow) McGillivray.  

Mont graduated from Ulysses High School in 1952, and attended Garden City Community College.  Throughout his career, he worked as a sales representative for PMS Foods, Far-Mar-Co, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield.  After retirement, Mont and his wife, Kathleen, moved to Bella Vista, AR, where they lived for 23 years before returning to Hutchinson in 2021.  Mont was a member of the Ulysses Jaycees and the Knights of Columbus in Bella Vista, AR.  He enjoyed golfing and traveling throughout the United States and other countries.  Mont always put his family first, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, Bella Vista, AR, and Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

 On January 10, 1954, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Mae Komma, in Satanta, KS.  They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Mont is survived by:  his wife, Kathleen McGillivray; children, Patricia Augustine (Barry), Guy McGillivray (Kathy), all of Hutchinson; Leslie Wilds of Yukon, OK, Crystal Hill (Brad) of Palmer Lake, CO and Emporia, and Kyle McGillivray (Heather) of Atlanta, GA and Cave Creek, AZ; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; siblings, Sally McGillivray, Lynne Fox, Doug McGillivray, Don McGillivray, and Kayo McGillivray; son, Terry McGillivray; and grandson, Joshua McGillivray.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, with Mass of Christian Burial to Follow at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson.  Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  Cremation has taken place.
