Dorothy H. Nelson, 74, of McPherson, KS, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at McPherson Hospital.
Dorothy was born January 15, 1949 in New York, the daughter of the Frank Hammel.
Through the years Dorothy owned and operated Nelson's Pet Store and Scope Maintenance. She also worked for Koch Industries, Copeland Supply and and retired from Central Plastics in 2014.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing slot machines at casino's and spending time with her friends and family.
Dorothy H. Hammel was united in marriage to Robert Lee Nelson on February 13, 1965 in California. The young couple established their first home together in Glendale County, California. This union was blessed with the birth of 2 children, Frank and Tammy.
She is survived by her children, Frank Nelson of Canton, Kansas and Tammy Shadday of McPherson, Kansas, her 6 grandchildren, Ashley (Aron), Justine, Jessica (Jordan), Bree, Robert and Frank Jr. and 4 great grandchildren, Aiden, Malia, Kinsey and Harlow.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her son, Steven and her granddaughter Reba.
Service will be at a later date.
