
Helen Gertrude Cox, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 13, 2025, at her home in Arlington, Kansas. She was born on November 7, 1930, in Carman, Oklahoma to Ralph and Olive (Morgon) Cox.
Helen lived and worked in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. She lived through the depression, dust bowl and WWII. Helen graduated from Abbyville High School in 1948. Helen worked for several restaurants as a waitress and cook. She worked for Furrs Cafeteria and Ramada Inn. She also started up a restaurant in Stephenville, Texas. She also worked at Walmart as a greeter and in maintenance.
Some of Helen’s hobbies included tatting, sewing, needle work and cooking was her enjoyment in life. She was also an avid bunko player and enjoyed playing with her friends and family. She was kind and generous to all she met and loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward Cox, Ralph “Bill” Cox, and Frank Cox; a sister, Mary Brewer; a son, Ralph R. McIver; sons-in-law, William Collins and Gene Buie, and a daughter-in-law, Joyce McIver.
Helen is survived by her children, Kathy (Fred) Alford, Edda Collins, Everette McIver, Beth Buie and Jerry (Mary) McIver; a brother, John Cox; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and Helen will be laid to rest in the Abbyville Cemetery, Abbyville, Kansas. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Traditions Hospice and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
