
Darlene M. Ediger, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Paramount Community Living and Rehab in Newton, just three days following her 71st birthday. She was born October 14, 1952 in Hillsboro, Kansas, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Bartel.
Darlene graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1970. She later graduated with a Bachelor of Art’s degree from Tabor College.
Darlene attended Grace Community Church in Newton. She was a committed follower of Jesus Christ, and shared her love of Christ with everyone in her life. She loved gardening, cooking Wednesday night meals for her family, sewing, birdwatching, and feeding the hummingbirds, and solving sudoku puzzles.
She was a devoted homemaker. Darlene worked at the Hesston Child Care Center for ten years and was involved in their afterschool program.
Darlene was united in marriage to Paul Ediger on October 4, 1975 in Hillsboro. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her four children, David Ediger of Hesston, Michelle (Brandon) Dick and their children, Lydia and Ezra, of Hesston, Jared (CJ) Ediger of Wichita, and Matthew (Rachel) Ediger of Newton; sister, Sharon Tomlinson of Wichita; and brothers, Glenn (LaVonne) Bartel of Wichita, and Scott (Brenda) Bartel of Hillsboro.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Bartel; and infant sister, Elaine Bartel.
Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Hesston Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m., at Grace Community Church, Newton.
