HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Harley's Bicycles hosted their first Cranksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Cranksgiving is a national organization that started in New York in 1999. The organization's mission is to collect food pantry items for Thanksgiving by cycling to the store. Items are donated to Reno County Food Bank.

"It's a little bit more of an interactive way to get involved and collect some food for a local food pantry or local food bank," Harley's Bicycle owner Deven Finlay said.

The local business in Downtown Hutchinson heard about the organization from event sponsor Dave Inskeep of Joe McGuire Insurance. Inskeep is an avid cycler and coaches a mountain bike team in town.

"The food bank is always looking for donations so he brought it to us and was like hey I think this is a great idea, I just don't have the capability of running the event," Finlay said. "So he brought it to us at the bike shop and then we just ran with it."

More information about the Reno County Food Bank is available at foodbankofrenocounty.org.
