PRATT COUNTY, Kan. — Work will begin soon on a nearly $6 million passing lane project on U.S. 54 in Pratt County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project will be on U.S. 54 west of Cullison: from Southwest 130th Avenue east to half a mile east of Southwest 110th Avenue. The project is a little over 2 miles long. The work includes grading and surfacing.

The work is expected to begin around Jan. 2, 2024, and be completed around June 24, 2024.

Initially, most of the work will occur off the highway, with little to no impact on traffic. Starting around April 1, traffic will be shifted, with little delay for motorists.

Venture Corp., of Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the $5,972,226 project.
