HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Airport is bringing back its open house and fly-in event this spring. The event, which was very popular, had to be canceled in 2020 because of the pandemic. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, May 1.

“We’re going to have some large aircraft displays,” Airport Director Pieter Miller said. “We’re going to have the 'Spooky Gunship' ( AC-47) and the 'Trader' (C-1), tracker water bomber demonstrations and we’ve got multiple World War II aircraft.”

The show will also include food trucks, a pancake breakfast, free flights for children and lots of other static aircraft displays. Best of all, the event is free to the public.

“It is free of charge to visit the show,” Miller said. “You can go to our website prairieskiesairshow.com. There will be stuff going on the entire time.”

The air show and open house will run from 8 a.m. until around 3 p.m.
