STEVENS COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a suspicious death in February have made an arrest.
Eight months ago, police found a man unresponsive in the 100 Block of South Wilson in Hugoton, according to a media release.
With the assistance of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Liberal Police, authorities this week arrested 29-year-old Justin Martinez of Hugoton on requested charges of distribution of a controlled substance causing death and distribution of a controlled substance using a telecommunication device. Martinez is being held in the Stevens County Jail. Police forward the case to the county attorney. Martinez has two previous convictions for burglary, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
