Carl Samuel Stickley, 88, died December 13, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Hutchinson, KS. He was born April 18, 1934, in Iola, KS to Lee and Emma (Burling) Stickley.
Carl graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1953. He grew up farming and after careers in truck driving and insurance, that is what he returned to. Carl loved horses and team roping. He also assisted with the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps. Carl was a member of Countryside Baptist Church
On September 4, 1964, he married Karen Sue (Dodson) Chronister, in Pratt, KS. They shared 58 years together.
Carl is survived by: wife, Karen Stickley, Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Carla Morris, Lyons, KS; son-in-law, Marty Toland, Marion, KS; son, Ron Chronister (Bonnie), Halstead, KS; daughter-in-law, Glenda Love, Little Rock, AR; daughter, Lisa Chronister (Randy Ashley), Hutchinson, KS; son, Eric Chronister (Geralyn), South Hutchinson, KS; sister, Jane Goodwin, Blair, Alberta, Canada; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Betty Clark; sons, Wade Gillen and Doug Chronister; and great-granddaughter, Kennadie Gorrell.
Funeral will be 1 pm Monday, December 19, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in Sego Cemetery. Pretty Prairie, KS. Friends may call from 1 to 5 pm Saturday and 1 to 8 pm Sunday, with family present from 4 to 6 pm at Elliott Mortuary.
