HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The next Coffee at the Cosmo is Thursday, March 21 from 9 to 10 a.m. and the topic is Sally Ride: Cosmic Trailblazer with Cosmosphere curator, Shannon Whetzel.
March is Women’s History Month and June 18 will be the 41st anniversary of Sally Ride becoming the first American woman in space.
Cosmosphere’s curator Shannon Whetzel will celebrate by sharing stories of Sally Ride, Valentina Tereshkova, and Svetlana Savitskaya—all amazing women who were among the first female pioneers of space. Guests will see an exclusive interview with astronaut Steve Hawley, who was married to Ride from 1982 to 1987.
Coffee at the Cosmo can be enjoyed in-person at the Cosmosphere and will be available on the Cosmosphere’s YouTube channel a week after the event.
