Leona Goering, 84, of Moundridge, Kansas passed away Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at Pine Village. She was born October 22, 1939 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Henry R. Neufeld and Anna (Hiebert) Neufeld.
Leona was a life-long member of Eden Mennonite Church, and was a homemaker and rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
She was united in marriage to Leland R. Goering on November 1, 1957, in Moundridge, in a double-ring ceremony with her older sister Edith (Neufeld) Flickinger and husband Floyd. Leland and Leona celebrated 63 years together until his passing in 2021.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Leland R. Goering; parents, Henry and Anna Neufeld; brothers, Rudolph Neufeld, Alvin Neufeld, and Menno Neufeld; sisters, Clara (Alfred) Voth, Viola (Harold) Trost, and Edith (Floyd) Flickinger.
Leona is survived by her son, Richard Goering, and wife Amy, Moundridge; and granddaughters DeAnna Goering, Pittsburg, KS, and Kimberly Goering, Albuquerque, NM.
Family will greet friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m, at Moundridge Funeral Home, Moundridge, KS. The funeral service will be held at Eden Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge, KS, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
