CANCER COUNCIL OF RENO COUNTY
HUTCHINSON, KAN. – The Cancer Council of Reno County (CCRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexis Rhodenbaugh as the new Development Director. Rhodenbaugh brings over ten years of experience to the role as a long-standing volunteer, board member, and passionate supporter of the mission of CCRC. A business owner and marketer by trade, Rhodenbaugh is excited to bring her background and heart for service to an organization she has supported for more than a decade. Her journey with CCRC began as a committee member when she was asked to help with the planning of different fundraising events through the organization. Since then, Rhodenbaugh has continued to take on additional responsibilities within CCRC including serving as a member of the Board of Directors and most recently as Vice President of the Board.
Rhodenbaugh's commitment to CCRC's work is both personally and professionally driven. Following the devastating diagnosis of her nephew Carson with DIPG, a rare type of pediatric brain cancer, she experienced first-hand the emotional toll that families endure when they receive a cancer diagnosis. Through that difficult experience, Rhodenbaugh developed an even greater passion for supporting families facing cancer and ensuring no one walks that journey alone. Having served in various different capacities over the years, she is honored to step into this new role and continue advancing the organization’s mission of supporting individuals and families affected by cancer in Reno County.
"I have had a deep affection for CCRC for a very long time. Witnessing cancer affect my own family showed me how vital it is for people to know they are surrounded by a community that loves and cares for them. I truly believe that each of us is called to utilize our unique gifts to assist others, and I honestly feel honored to accept this position. I look forward to continuing to build relationships, promote CCRC's mission, and ensure that every family in our community who is dealing with cancer understands that they do not walk that path alone." -Alexis Rhodenbaugh, Development Director.
"One of the best decisions we could have made for CCRC's future was bringing Alexis into this position. Not only does she understand this organization at a strategic level but also at an emotional level. She understands what CCRC means to the families we serve and how difficult it is to gain their trust. She has previously invested years in gaining that trust through her efforts as a volunteer and board member. As we continue to expand our programs and services, I cannot express enough excitement about having Alexis join our team as we strengthen our community partnerships and expand our ability to reach those families who need us most." -Ashley Thompson, Executive Director and Patient Care Director.
