HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Salvation Army still has considerable need as they come down the stretch of the pre-Christmas kettle drive. As of Saturday, they had $15,662 left of their Kettle Goal and $230,338 left that usually comes from checks sent in that makes up the rest of the $400,000 overall goal.
"It’s also getting really cold which has caused some paid ringers to quit, and volunteer signups have dropped off," said Major Paul James. "Unfortunately, if there isn’t a person ringing a bell at a location, then people aren’t likely to give to the buckets. This week is actually the most fun for ringing because of how close we are to Christmas."
Individuals, groups and families can still volunteer to take the time to ring for a couple of hours. They can sign up by going to registertoring.com. The bells will ring until 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
The drawing for the Chiefs-Broncos tickets that were part of signup this year will take place on the KWBW Morning Show on Friday, Dec. 23.
