Kansas man dies after struck by a pickup

SEDGWICK COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 11a.m. Friday in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a  Chevrolet Silverado pulling an enclosed trailer and driven by Matthew Stemm, Tulsa, Oklahoma was eastbound on Kansas 96 just west of North Meridian Street in the middle lane.  The pickup struck a pedestrian identified as 53-year-old James Butts of Wichita, who entered the roadway.

 Butts was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Forensics Science Center.  Stemm was properly restrained and not injured, according to the KHP.
