HUTCHINSON, Kan. — BrightHouse received a total of 3,347 donations in items at their annual Stuff the Bus event with My 93-1 this month. The items donated go to BrightHouse's shelter. Donated items included boxed snacks, laundry detergent, paper towels and more.
Shelter manager Chere said some household items, cans of fruit and coffee were lower in number this year. She said the shelter did receive new items that haven't been donated before.
"We appreciate all of it," Chere said. "I mean every single bit of it. Every item we get no matter what it is, its something we don't have to use financial resources for to get that item. Which means we can use the financial resources in direct services to individuals that need it so its wonderful."
Executive Director Sue Wray said BrightHouse received $1,723 in total donations from Stuff the Bus. There was $1,000 donated in sponsorships, $644 dollars in cash donations and $85 in gift cards.
BrightHouse provides confidential support to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Services are free to to anyone in Reno, Kingman and Harper counties.
