Halloween murder: Kan. woman accused of stabbing her mother

SEDGWICK COUNTY  — A Kansas  woman is in custody on a requested charge of first-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, early Friday morning in southeast Wichita,

Just before 8a.m. Friday, police responded to a reported stabbing at a residence in the 1500 block of East Crowley in Wichita, according to a media release. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, identified from jail booking records  as 47-year-old Angelynn Elizabeth Mock, outside the home.

 Inside the residence, officers found Anita Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. Sedgwick County EMS transported the victim to St. Francis Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased at 8:26 a.m.

Mock was transported to the hospital for treatment before being taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on the requested chargeof  first-degree murder.
