Kansas man wanted for alleged sexual assault at University of Nebraska

LINCOLN, Nebraska —Police are investigating a reported incident of unwanted fondling and kissing that occurred early  Sept. 29, near N. 16th & R Streets in Lincoln, Nebraska, according to an alert from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

 Joseph Favata, 32, of Kansas, is facing charges of attempted first-degree sexual assault and first-degree false imprisonment, according to University of Nebraska Police Department.

Faveta is described as approximately 5 feet tall or shorter, with short black hair and possibly a mustache. He was reportedly wearing a gray T-shirt, black sweatpants and a chain necklace.

“As a result of the quick work of our investigators and officers, the suspect was able to be identified,” said UNLPD Interim Chief of Police Marty Fehringer. “After he was identified, we then worked with the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office to have a warrant issued for his arrest.”
