Taylor Martin started his role as Sports Coordinator on May 26. He comes to Hutch Rec with a bachelor’s degree in human and health performance and exercise science from Fort Hays State University. While there, Martin was the tight ends coach for the Fort Hays football team. Previously, Martin coached football at HutchCC, as well as played there collegiately, where he had the opportunity of earning two National Championships – one as a player and one as a coach.

Martin was born in Hutchinson and grew up in Larned, Ks, where he played sports and graduated high school. He has always enjoyed sports, specifically football, basketball, and golf, and also loves to cook. He was excited to move back to Hutchinson along with his fiancée, Alex.

As Sports Coordinator at Hutch Rec, Martin plays a direct role in shaping youth and adult sports experiences in our community through the building of sports programs, leading staff and volunteers, managing game and practice schedules, and creating environments where athletes, families, and teams thrive.

Martin offices out of Hutch Rec Downtown, located at 17 E 1st Ave, and will be on-site when programs are played at the sports facilities throughout town.

“Most of my family is from the Hutchinson area, so it has been a blessing to be back with them all once again,” Martin says. “My love of sports is what drew me to Hutch Rec. It is an extremely exciting opportunity to have the chance to give back and get to know the community.”
