KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating another homicide in Kansas City have identified the man who died as 34-year-old Daniel A. Perez.

Just after 3a.m. Sept. 30, police were dispatched to report of a shooting in the 1600 block of Hardesty in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

Callers reported hearing a gunshot in the parking of the apartment building and seeing a shooting victim down on the ground. On arrival officers were directed to a vehicle in the lot where they located Perez unresponsive down on the ground next to it.

Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over treatment. EMS ultimately pronounced Perez deceased at the scene. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators arrived and begun their homicide investigation.

Later on Wednesday, detectives developed additional information that has led to the identification of a potential subject of interest. That subject of interest is known to be associated with an apartment unit inside the building adjacent to the scene. Officers responded to that apartment and took one adult male subject of interest into custody for further investigation. That suspect remains in custody for separate charges not related to this incident, according to KCPD Alayna Gonzalez.
