HUTCHINSON, Kan. — While the number of positive COVID cases is increasing, the number of those active cases is falling faster, leaving a current trend where more people are healing than getting sick.
It's a trend that has been occurring since the middle of September and is the first major separation of such since the pandemic began.
The only other time such separation occurred was in September of 2020, which was followed by a major spike in cases during the Thanksgiving holiday.
As of today, there are 351 active cases, down 29 from Friday. The total number of cases increased by 35 to 10,282 which did close some of that gap by a small margin.
There are currently eight county residents in the hospital and the death toll is at 162.
