HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Health Department reports that over a quarter of Reno County’s population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Daily vaccinations continue at the First United Methodist Church clinic, 101 East First Ave. They will also be hosting a clinic for the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine on Wednesday, April 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. They have 1,000 doses available for ages 18 and over. The vaccine is free to any Reno County resident, regardless of citizen status or insurance. Register for the clinic online at https://forms.renogov.org/rchd/covid19-registration/ or call 620-694-2900 and select option 6.
While the Reno County COVID-19 case count is declining, mitigation methods are still important to keep the trend moving in the right direction. The Health Department and Medical Collaborative recommend residents continue to social distance by more than 6 feet, wash hands frequently, wear a mask, stay home when sick, and vaccinate to prevent additional outbreaks. If you are feeling ill, it is also important to get tested through your medical provider or the free community testing site. Visit www.gogettested.com for more information and testing locations.
Even though Kansas is now vaccinating ages 16 and up, not all vaccines are age appropriate. Only Pfizer is currently available for ages 16 and over, while Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are suitable for ages 18 and up. Visit vaccinefinder.org to find nearby locations and vaccine availability. You may also visit the Reno County Health Department’s web page to register for an appointment, or check the websites of the Hutchinson Clinic, Prairie Star Health Center, Dillon’s pharmacies, Walmart, or The Medicine Shoppe for their site’s availability.
