
LIBERAL, Kan. โ The Blue Dragons overcame a 19-turnover game with stellar defense to defeat the Seward County Saints 69-54 on Wednesday in the Greenhouse.
Monae Duffy posted her ninth double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Journey Armstead nearly joined her, going for 18 points and nine boards.
Hutchinson (22-7, 15-7) built a 24-point lead with 8:17 to play in the fourth quarter, but Seward had an answer. The Saints used a late 9-0 run to pull within 65-54, but it came too late in the game.
Seward (14-15, 12-11) held a 12-11 lead after the first quarter before the Blue Dragons scored the first dozen points in the second to grab its first lead. Hutchinson would take a 33-21 lead into halftime.
The Blue Dragons shot 41 percent for the game, knocking down 24-of-59 field goal attempts. The Saints connected on just 33 percent (18-of-54).
Hutchinson dominated the glass, outrebounding Seward by 21. The Saints were led by Hamila Sallatโs 16 points.
The Blue Dragons will have a bye on Saturday before returning to the Sports Arena to close out the regular season on Wednesday against Garden City. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
