HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Mayor Greg Fast said that once the weather warms back up, it should not take long for the Woodie Seat Freeway to reopen.
"If we get about seven to ten more days on that, that will be open again," Fast said. "We need good weather, there's just a few things to button up, but we're super close on that."
Fast said it was close to being overall on time, but the weather got in the way.
"Even before Christmas, I drove up there and looked around," Fast said. "We probably could have opened it, but there was just a couple things that were dangerous. You have to account for the folks that maybe don't drive as well as you or I do. We made that decision to not open it and get those things fixed first."
There will also be a closure of the same section in the spring of 2024 for 30 to 60 days. The start date for that has not been announced.
