Algae continues to be a problem in central Kansas

Posted Sep 24, 2021 4:36 PM

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Despite the cooler weather the algae infestation in area lakes continues.

Lake Afton Near Goddard, Harvey County East Lake east of Newton and both Marion Reservoir and Marion Lake are still under algae warnings which means all contact with the water should be avoided. Also added to the list this week is the Colwich city lake in Sedgwick County.

Cheney Reservoir is still under an algae watch which means algae could be present in areas of the lake. The algae could stick around until colder weather arrives.
