HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Kansas State Fair received a check for $100,000 for renovation work to the House of Capper on the fairgrounds.

The check from ProValue Insurance will help fund the project that will bring the House of Capper back to its original state.

The Capper Project will create a tribute to the great work of Arthur Capper and build the Capper Cooperative Park to celebrate the Capper-Volstead Act of 1922, which allowed for the creation of cooperatives in the United States.

The Capper Cooperative Park will be a walk-through educational park, and will be developed in the green space to the north of the House of Capper to tell the story of the work of cooperatives in the United States.

The hope is to have the project completed for the 2022 Kansas State Fair in time to celebrate the 100th year of the Capper-Volstead Act.
