
Nadine Elizabeth Nichols, 93, of McPherson, Kansas passed away February 1, 2024 at Hospice House in Hutchinson.
She was born in Osage City, Kansas on December 31, 1930, the daughter of James Edwin and Reva Estella (Heathman) Allen.
Nadine attended Dawson Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High and Topeka High School, Topeka, Kansas. She then attended Adela Hale Business College and Hutchinson Junior College.
On June 30, 1947 Nadine was united in marriage to Robert Adelbert Nichols, Sr. at Oskaloosa, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Topeka, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, Patricia, Stephen, Robert Jr., and Tim. The family moved quite a bit and in 1956 the family moved to McPherson.
Nadine was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years she worked for Firestone as a general office manager and for Brunks Jewelers.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson. Nadine was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2715, member and past president of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary, a member and past president of the Soroptimist Club of McPherson, a member of McPherson Hospital Auxiliary and a member and past president of the United Methodist Women.
Nadine enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, camping, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by daughter Patricia (Paul) Lookingbill of Paola, Kansas; sons Stephen (Natalie) Nichols of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert (Maggie) Nichols, Jr. of Marion, Kansas, Tim (Lisa) Nichols of Inman; 10 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Nichols, Sr.; sister, Erma Galvin; half-brother William Klatt; and a granddaughter Tuesday Erwin.
Private family burial will be at McPherson Cemetery.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel with Dr. Dean Johnson officiating.
