
Milbry Ruth (Bridgeman) Haag, 94, died March 31, 2026, at Fern’s Place Home Plus, in Wichita. She was born September 7, 1931, on the family farm south of Plevna, to Leonard Otal and Edith Elizabeth (Ehling) Bridgeman.
Milbry graduated from Abbyville High School in 1949 and graduated from Hutchinson Community Junior College in 1951 earning her associates of arts. While at Hutchinson Community Junior College, she played on the national championship league softball team. Milbry worked as a secretary for the Eaton Corporation for a few years, before becoming a school bus driver for USD 313 (Buhler) for over 30 years. She had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing in local softball leagues and bowling leagues with her husband, Ronald. Milbry liked to travel and spent a lot of time in her vegetable garden and tending to her flowers. Milbry loved spending time with family, especially hosting her grandchildren for overnight sleepovers. Milbry was a member of Plevna Community Bible Church.
In February 1957, she married Gordon Groth. He died three months later on May 29, 1957.
On May 16, 1964, Milbry married Ronald Gene Haag, in South Hutchinson. They shared almost 55 years of marriage, prior to his death on May 5, 2019.
Milbry is survived by: her sons, Timothy (Davina) Haag of McPherson and John (Melissa) Haag of Wichita; grandchildren, Dylan McNeil, David Haag, Taylor Haag, Parker Haag, and Tanner Haag; sister, Connie (Bill) Depew of Hutchinson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Gordon Groth and Ronald Haag; daughter, Kerri Sue Haag-Pellecchia; grandson, Tyler Haag; brother, Duane Bridgeman; sisters, Lois “Charlyne” Wilt, Rose Holcomb, and Marjory Garrett.
Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor David E. Green officiating. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Monday. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. Family encourages attendees to wear blue or floral attire, to honor Milbry’s love of flowers and the color blue.
