Edgar B. Banman, 92, passed away August 25, 2024 at Kidron Bethel Village, North Newton. He was born on February 22, 1932 in Goessel, Kansas, to Abe (A.J.) and Bertha (Epp) Banman. He grew up on the farm north of Goessel and graduated from Goessel High School in 1950. He was united in marriage to Vinola Schroeder on August 29, 1953 at Tabor Mennonite Church.

Ed served at Menninger Foundation in Topeka in the 1-W alternative service program for two years.

Upon relocation to Newton, he worked for 32 years at Hesston Corporation, in the Parts Department and Materials Disposition before retiring in 1997. He was a charter member of Faith Mennonite Church and has remained a member there. He enjoyed camping, gardening, woodworking, bird-feeding, singing in the Kansas Men’s Chorus, remodeling, rebuilding vehicles, building custom log-splitters and many other things. He was a do-it-yourselfer who tackled any project, big or small, with a desire to learn and a determination to succeed.

He is survived by his wife, Vinola, of North Newton, and his children Cynthia Banman and Wendell (Yvonne) Banman of Newton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Debra Sue Giskie; siblings Mae Frey, Ruth Schmidt, Earl Banman and infant brother, Willard.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Mennonite Church.
