
Jessie M. Huston, age 91, and a near lifelong resident of Haven, Kansas, died, July 2, 2026, at Legend of Hutchinson. She was born at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on January 6, 1935, the daughter of Conley J. and Vertie G. (Ingle) Kindley.
She graduated from Haven High School in 1952. On September 6, 1953, she married Don Ross Huston at Haven Baptist Church. He passed away on April 11, 2018.
For many years Jessie was the office manager for Haven Ford, retiring in 1996. She helped her husband with their business, Huston’s Board Barn and the family farm. Don and Jessie enjoyed camping and were “Winter Texans” during their retirement.
She was a member of Haven Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities including teaching Sunday school and singing in the church choir. Jessie lived her faith before others in her community.
Jessie is survived by her son, Mark (Patricia) Huston of Hutchinson; daughter, Julie (Ryan) Caffrey of Haven; daughter-in-law, Julie Huston of Douglass, KS; sister-in-law, Irene Kindley of Texas; six grandchildren, Joshua (Marki) Huston of Douglass; Jeremy (Jessica) Huston of Crystal Lake, Il; Jenna (Brad) Brack of Germany; Joanna (Luke) Nehring of Chicago, Il; John (Dresden) Huston of Frisco, TX; and Katelyn (Morgan) Swing of Glendale, CA; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Terry “Ted” Huston; three sisters, Ruth Winters, Lois Lyons, and Freida Johnson; two brothers, Norman Kindley and Don Kindley.
Public graveside services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Laurel Cemetery, Haven. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Haven Baptist Church. Friends may pay their respects Friday, July 10, 2026, at Ott Funeral Home, Haven from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. The family will be present from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
