🏀 WBB: No. 1 Dragons clinch conference title

LIBERAL, Kan. — No. 1 Hutchinson (27-0, 21-0) clinched the Jayhawk Conference outright for the 10th time in John Ontjes' 17 seasons.

The Dragons trailed by five after one quarter, but used a 23-8 second quarter to take a 10-point lead into halftime.

Hailey Jackson scored 16 of her 20 total points in the first half.

Kiki Smith hit 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and finished with 24 points.

Journey Armstead recorded a career-high 11 assists and accounted for half of the team's total (22).

Allie Myers entered the game averaging a double-double over her last two contests. The Dragons held Myers to 1-of-5 shooting with two total points and four rebounds.

Hutchinson shot 86.7% in the third quarter, 56.1% for the game, despite shooting just 4-of-14 (28.6%) in the game's first 10 minutes.

Jamia Carter led Seward with 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting.

Hutchinson returns to the Sports Arena Wednesday, Feb. 28, for Sophomore Night vs. Coffeyville (17-10, 12-9) at 5:30 p.m.
