HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Health Department has received a $90,000 grant to help combat smoking and vaping.
The funding comes from tobacco settlement money and is managed and disbursed by KDHE to local health departments. The mission of the community grant program is to address chronic disease risk reduction.
The health department has been receiving and managing this aid to local grant funding for over 10 years.
Work plans selected for FY 22 include working with area schools to reach a 100% tobacco and vape free policy and plans to enforce it, support adoption of tobacco cessation guidelines and behavioral health care, improving access to food and to fund the Walk With Ease program.
